You wake up in a lab, an experiment for some mad scientist. With some help, you escape. What happens next is up to you.
Story-wise, about 50% new content. But major changes behnd-the-scenes. Every passage essentially rewritten. Presentation is closer to where I want it. Looks and feels more like a story, less like a game.
This was probably one of the best reads I've ever witnessed in a long time. I half-expected some sort of shapeshifter porn, but what came out was a fascinating, though unfinished, ride. It's well written, the options dialogue is fairly unique in it's own right, and it kept me engaged with the mystery of what, or who, your character is. Unfortunetly, this gamemay be abandoned or at best post poned. Last update was October of 2015, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
This is more of an interactive story than game, but it is a great story which is very well written and imaginative.
More serious than most posted here but one I definitely want to see more from.
Subject Alpha is something different.
Much of what is on TFGameSite is erotica.
Subject Alpha is not that—it is well written and earnest account of the life of a teenage shapeshifter who escapes from a mysterious lab and then attempts to have a normal existence in small town Canada.
The game is quite charming in its earnest realism.
The game presents choices in a way I haven't seen before. Rather than having a list of options at the bottom of the page to choose from, you instead just have a next button. Choices come in the form of coloured text embedded in the narrative. Each time you click on the coloured text, you change the text to say something else. By cycling through these options you can change the narrative. It's really quite a cute way of giving the player power over the text of the story and I'd love to see more Twine games adopt this approach.
Do not remember the change since the last time I played it. With the new coding change, there is one bash I would like to do. The action and speech are of the same, or similiar color, making it hard to tell which is which.
Other than that, I like the story as much as my last review and I was really sad when I hit the current end of development. Wish to see the end of it as soon as possible.
It is version 0.1. There is the word alpha somewhere in the page. This game must be bad, only a few pages, with little content. It proves that instinct can be wrong.
I have spent my last 30 minutes with an interesting background story to kick start my character. I like digging up more of the past of the main character and I am looking forward to see the first day of life, as long as it goes alone with the background story.
I totally love this game! I'm hooked up to the possible evolutions of my character. Please, please, pretty pretty please, don't make it just another eternally incomplete project! It needs to be completed! :D
