I'm a long time lurker here, and I finally got inspired enough to try to make my own game!
I'm new with RPG maker... actually, I'm new at making games and story and everything else related to that, but the point is that I'm still discovering how to use the RPG maker program and that there is a bunch of stuff that I don't know how to do or use...
I hope you'll like it!
you must play from a saved game from before the clothing store... It will be buggy as hell otherwise!
for the changelog, see the discussion link
You are a treasure hunter in search for... well treasures of course! You are currently broke because of all the women and alcohol.
While in seach for a mountain of gold in an old temple, you awaken the old divinity sleeping there... and that's when things get messy!
You: Jack Barnes! A 31 Y/O batchelor and one of the most famous treasure hunter in the world... at least in your mind you are.
Ardat: An anciend Goddess that you have awaken by accident.
Bathym: He is a SPOILER and a SPOILER because he is a follower of SPOILER
There's none! Deal with it!
Kromar I like the game, Please add the next chapter soon.
I found a bug.
After you wake up in the Priest's room and dress. If you go back into the room. There is a message that says something like.
I can't leave naked . One is still dressed when it said that. I even tried to take off the clothes and put them back on. It didn't work.
I know there are small bugs in any complex sykstem. I think you have a great story and graphics.
This is looking promsing (although not something I really want to play), but there are four problems so far.
1. The volume is out of control. I know that RPG Maker is bad with this, but you have to go and decrease the volume for music in battle, sound effects for skills and attacks and sound effects outside of battle. Adjusting the music down to a quiet enough volume for battles to not blast the sound requires that you can barely hear the music outside of battle. The barely audible music is very irritating, but it also makes me wonder endlessly about whether or not I should turn the volume off.
2. The story themes are iffy. The thing about a false goddess religion is a bit devoid of impact due to the fact that she never feels trustworthy and basically betrays you from the beginning. Plus, it seems like there is no reason why people would worship her since she had no power and had no way to plan her return to power if she was sealed off from the whole world. It also feels weird to have a treasure hunter who acts more like a thief who also gets brainwashed out of their original personality and who apparently is still supposed to unseal the goddess.
3. The town map is too boxy. There should be fences or something on the edges of the town instead of it ending on the limits of the screen. The town is also has too much space and some buildings (especially the guards' tower) are drastically varied in size compared to their appearance on the outside.
4. The beginning of the game has too many enemies and if you fought them all, you would most likely be dead. The starting area should be made smaller even if the game is going to have areas like this later on.
When I reached the part of this is the end of content dialog box I was so sad... so very sad.
I cant wait till this gets more flushed out with more content.
The writting is good
The progression is good
Game Play fighting is what you would expect from RPG maker
The scenes chosen for visual representation of the character are also good.
Looking forward to more of this game in the future.
Really loved this game, hope to seen more soon. Love the slow.. corruption, I guess, and the pictures you used.
Altough, I wish that you could use the mirrors to "check yourself" whenever you wanted.
The Chosen One...
Sure, the title might be a tad cliche, but I don't mind that. As you would expect, this is a short playthrough. I'd say you could make it last anywhere from 15-45 minutes, 45 being if you explore everything and everyone around. As stated, there is one transformation scene and two masturbation scenes. (one of them is pretty short, but the other definitely does it's job.)
This game uses RPG Maker MV, which comes with pros and cons:
Pros: Better overall sprites and images, Bigger window, Smoother gameplay (arguable), better core engine
Cons: Less add-on script capability, currently massive game file despite current game length. (almost half a gig, yikes!)
Story: Overall, the set-up shows some great promise. There's not a whole lot of backstory quite yet, but it's enough to get a decent grasp of the primary characters and get you rolling into the game with a purpose. I'm curious about the direction and theme the game will take because as it stands, it could cover all transformation types or take on a more specific genre as it goes. There are only a few grammar mistakes as well. 9/10
Gameplay: The maze at the beginning is probably at the proper length. It's not very difficult, but it does give the sense that it was justly placed in my opinion. Currently, there is no meaningful combat. Fighting the bats at the start will either end in four turns of attack or you'll be blinded and forced to fight longer. However, they are not random encounters and are easily avoidable. That's great, since these encounters will not provide you with anything useful. 6/10
Scripting: It's not bad for someone just starting in RPG Maker. There is a (near) game-breaking bug when traveling from the zone just outside the first town to the zone where you were first teleported to post transformation. I believe that you can click the curtain to get out of the bug, sparing a load/new game. Other than that, there are minor bugs where you can walk on a roof etc... nothing really deal-breaking. 5/10
Design: The maps are decently put together and custom images supply a better narrative at the more interesting parts. The only thing I could call into question here is maybe the maps being a tad big. 8/10
Verdict for a Demo: I'd give this a 6/10 so far, but I'm sure the bugs will be ironed out quickly, to which I'd give it a 8/10 or higher. The download size is massive, and depending on your internet, it may take longer to download than it takes to play. If you're here for the sexy scenes, it isn't quite worth the wait yet. However, if you're here to get an idea what the game is about, you should consider giving it a try. This game developer can only get better with more time. I suspect the next few updates will make this game worthy download in the RPG Maker category. No Pressure ;)
UPDATE: Scripting errors have been fixed (way faster than expected!) To me, that puts this as an 8/10 so far. This is more than we typically get from an alpha/demo for RPG Maker games anyways. If you're interested in the game or how RPG Maker MV is compared to VX Ace, certainly give this a shot!
