My first attempt at an inform game, origionally intented to be a concept game which got out of hand over a number of years. I will note, this game is no longer being developed as it has become unmaintainable but I am currently in the process of using the lessons learned from creating this game to make what is (in my opinion at least) a much better experience. My new project "Crystal Chase" will be released in the very near future, so keep an eye out!
This build of The four kingdoms is around 550,000 words in total, with content spanning four different kingdoms (which are the Future, Fantasy, Beast and Wartorn kingdoms. A full explanation can be found in the first post of the discussion thread for this game) The content is widely varied and the game caters to a great many fetishes and different types of transformation. There is a lot of content to be had, but note this game is far from complete, almost all paths will not have a conclusion and there are a great many bugs or broken features left behind. Whilst I may still make some attempt to keep this playable, my focus now is on my new project and this game will almost certainly never be finished.
Quite a good game, it is generally well-written with quite a few attractive monstergirls and a couple of interesting transformations, of which the goo-girl tf was done the best (I love being able to modify characters dynamically, like you can once you are a goo girl). I'm generally fairly picky about erotic scenes, but there were definitely a lot of good ones in there. That said, there are a large number of bugs, and because the work was split between four kingdoms and several branches, you won't be able to progress as far as you would think on any given playthrough. Twine would probably have been a better choice for developing it, but oh well. Sad to hear that development has stopped on it, but I can definitely understand.
Interestingly, it hurts that there are some unfinished part as the Dragon-reach.
SO MUCH POTENTIAL! I love this game, and I've only visited the beast kingdom. A lot of the bugs pointed out by Anon21 are true, but you can look at yourself (look self is the command). Can't wait to see where this goes, and if you can actually get a bad end in Deepwell.
This game has a lot of potential, but has too many bugs for me to consider it playable now. The encounter with Rosey is bugged. Talking to the Mayor in Deepwall stops dead after you 'sit down'. Cockberries don't continue to increase the length past 3 inches when used on female. Females with cocks don't get the Sarah encounter and don't get 'cock options' with Rosey. Dusty vanishes after you train with him once. You can't look at yourself. I can't work out how to trade with Sandy the Squirrel.
My first thought was, "No sypnosis? Must be yet another barebones game concept with no content! But boy, was I wrong. While I haven't gone through it systemically, it appears very large in the sheer amount of written content it has, certainly on par with many fully completed games on this site. But it's not complete, if only for the reason the author decided to write so many different worlds/paths in his game at once, rather than focus on a single one.
Gameplay wise, it feels more like a visual novel without the visuals: your progression seems dependant on a relatively small number of key plotpoint decisions, rather than grinding enemy units or resources to achieve certain threshold goals. There is some level of dynamic content (gold, HP, items, and transformable body parts), but these feel supplamental to the story itself.
My only complaint is that the game engine doesn't really fit the game style; it would be easier to play and nagivate as a twine game rather than an inform one. Inform is better streamlined for game-makers creating statistics-heavy games, which this is not. The scenes are also very long, and inform doesn't support extended backscrolling or bookmarking which is another reason the game doesn't fit the engine.
