An inform game based on the first TF story I ever wrote.  Which, believe it or not, is much worse then this game and will never be released, heh.

COVEN is a game inspired by Nuku Valente's Flexible Survival and Fenoxo's Corruption of Champions.  Its technically the first full length game I have made in inform 7, and while it is still not finished... its at ~50k words being 90% complete.  It's not edited, and most of it was written on my phone over the past few weeks, but I'll hopefully have the time to tidy it up the next few days.

If you have the courage and patience, you are more then welcome to dive on in!

Note: There's a ton of hidden random transformations in this game, with some of the stories lasting the equivalent of a solid short story.  A few aren't accessible right now, including the ending.  Also almost all are nonconsensual, animal or anthro.  Thank you for playing!

Edit: You're right cubicjest!  Excellent advice, the game has been updated.

The keyword for the List of Commands is "help".  Just type that in and it'll give you a quick list of the main commands I used.

Thank you!

Edit 02: Wow, I was not expecting this many people to review the game this fast, haha.  Well I see two are getting a malware warning when downloading. Hmm, could it be because I uploaded to 4shared?  I can host on my blog if needed I guess.

Aegis7, the gradual change theme I'm going to use much more in the sequel to COVEN, which I've already drawn up the design doc on. :)  This first game was my novice venture into producing a game in inform 7, I'm hoping to improve with each game in the COVEN series.  Next game is also going to have time travel, lol.

As far as the critique/advice, these are excellent points, I'm implementing them now. :)  No game should have bushes you can pick up! Thanks again guys, I appreciate it!

Ignore the two with the fake malware detection - they probably have a "Free" antivirus that sometimes "Detects Malware" in non-malware products. So far, so good for the product itself!

Don't download this, it's malware.

Tried to install something that my computer flagged as spyware. 10/10 would violate my security again. :(

Always happy to see more games inspired by CoC and FI, arguably the two best CYOC TF games out there. Now, to the points

  • There seem to be lots of "items" I can pick up that are at best immovable (Some bushes) or at worst immaterial (The sound of dogs barking). Seems like you need to go through with a fine tooth comb and sort out some of those bugs
  • The content that is in is all good stuff, but it's watered down by the sheer amount of red herrings and empty descriptions in the enviroment. This problem will be fixed once you remove the items that need to be removed, and fill out the content for everything else, but for now I would recommend either locking off rooms with nothing in them, or making it clear which items can be interacted with and which can't. Inform's biggest problem has always been "Guess the verb", and it's infinitely worse when the correct verb may or may not exist.
  • Normally, I would take off points for having instant game overs when you interact with the enviroment, but haivng the undo button is the easiest and best fix for that little niggle. Seriously, why don't more games do that. Kudos to you. That being said, any chance we'll see slower TFs? Both CoC and FI prided themselves on their gradual tfs, and I'd love to see it brought into this game as well.

In summary, this game, as it stands now, is one of the most promising new games on here, but also one of the most ambitious. Right now it's worth trying out, and it can only get better with time. But there is a lot of refinement needed, on top of the extra content.
